SUMMARY: No more fooling around; quit now while the quitting's good.
With all the fun I've had recently doing NONagility things, I have come to realize that I don't need or want agility in my life at all. So, that's it, I'm done. I've tossed all my entries for the April/May trials instead of sending them in. I also realize that it's time to get back to my agenda of traveling extensively.
Between those two decisions, I've also realized that it's not fair to the dogs, who've trained for agility and love it, to leave them home, under-utilized, under-exercised, and under-loved. So I've started the process of handing them over to the folks I had already listed as being their new owners in case of my untimely passing. These are good folks, people the dogs like, and they are delighted to have the chance to work with my Merle Girls. Sure, I'll miss them, but I hope I'll be too busy to notice much.
I've sent out a note to the club list offering to sell all my equipment--jeez, I've accrued a lot of it!--and based on the quick response when other people have sold things, I expect it to all be spoken for by the end of the day today.
This is all so amazingly freeing.
I can now leave my desk for the morning with a clear conscience and go enjoy the rest of this April First to the fullest.
April Fool!
ReplyDeleteThanks. :-)
ReplyDeleteAfter one worried phone call, I slightly modified the post. At heart, I'm just not mean enough to let people worry about me! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHappy April Fools day. Vici
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I stopped breathing. Then I teared up at the part about giving the dogs away. And then I read it again and actually read all the way to the end about enjoying this April first...and started to laugh with relief. You got me! LOL!
ReplyDeleteGah. Totally freaked me out.
ReplyDeleteWay better April Fool's joke than Google's.
Yea, Google's was lame! They should hire ELLEN to do their stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks, folks. I thought Google's was pretty funny! Maybe it's a silicon valley thing--
ReplyDeleteThis'll teach me to get behind in my blog reading! You totally had me until the end. Even then I wasn't totally sure -- well, about the agility part, not the giving-the-dogs-away part, until reading the comments. You leg-puller you!!
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee heeee.
ReplyDeleteHoly shit, I actually thought you were serious. I am glad that I actually read the comments as I was truly sad to read that you were placing the dogs. Giving up agility, I can undestand, but the dogs OMG!!
ReplyDeleteMy jaw dropped as I read this and thank god, I read the comments because you got me! And it's not even April 1!
ReplyDeleteLloyda
Well, it *was* the morning of April 1 when I posted it!
ReplyDeleteI was seriously freaked out at the idea that you were re-homing your dogs. I should have known you'd *never* do that.
