a Taj MuttHall Dog Diary: Coyote Peak Portraits

Coyote Peak Portraits

Coyote Peak is a nearby, slightly challenging hike that's never crowded. With lovely views of southeast San Jose (in these photos).

Not shown here, also has lovely views to the north across San Jose, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, to the southern end of the San Francisco Bay and, on a clear day, all the way to San Francisco.

NOTE: Time of day from camera--maybe + or - an hour depending on whether I  remembered to set it for PDT/PST changes.

Sept 17, 2017  10 AM

Foggy day. Hazy day. Or smoggy?
Mount Hamilton (w/observatories) directly over Zorro's head.

Dogs note:

Summer 2014, Chip came home. Spring 2015, Tika and Boost died and Zorro came home. Hence the sudden difference in dogs.

January 1, 2014  9:53 AM (from a photo of my watch)

Mount Hamilton directly behind me, oh well.
Very cold earlier.

March 9, 2013 11:05 AM

This is on the park's other peak on the Vista Loop Trail,
so view more to the northeast, also across San Jose.

Mount Hamilton above my head to the left.

Dec 18, 2011 10:50 AM

Mount Hamilton above my head to the right.
Someone got the dogs to look at them for the photo!
(my photo's time agrees with friend's photos)

August 6, 2011 10:20 AM

Mount Hamilton on the right.

(Here's something weird--below here, with one exception, Tika's always on my left. This has not been intentional! Interesting--)

March 13, 2011 10:50 AM

Mount Hamilton in deep haze above Boost's head (border collie).
The reflective light allows you to see the white observatory buildings on top.

Dec 12, 2010 8:45 AM

(Not exactly the same spot--that would be just around past the bend on the path you see here.)
No view. Foggy Perfect hiking day but not so hot for views.

July 31, 2010 8:45 AM

More fog!
(friend's camera has 7:45, so we'd have started hiking 6 AM. Seems unlikely but not impossible.)

December 26, 2009 1:00 PM

Much wider angle. Mount Hamilton upper right.
CA-101 going left to right in the background along the base of Coyote Ridge.
Visible lower left: Part of the trail (maintenance road) coming up.

Camera didn't collect dates or times. But sunset officially at 8:03, so estimated time.
