Great photos! My husband and I are bouncing around the idea of going to San Fransisco in Oct. This would be a nice hike, though odds are we don't have room for hiking gear in the luggage.
You don't need hiking gear to do the basic tourist package. :-) Park at the south end of the bridge, walk across the bridge, then up to the viewing area--in the 4th photo, that's the flat hill you can see just beyond the bridge. That's 1.7 miles across the bridge, and maybe a couple of tenths up the hill. Then the same distance back. Or you could park on the north side of the bridge and not walk across the bridge at all. (I suggest taking earplugs maybe? The traffic noise on the bridge is pretty loud.) Lots of easy-peasy hikes along the coast (well, some steep, but short). Lots to do on the south side in the Presidio, too. For north side, get the Marin Headlands map. Also Muir Woods, basic trails through the redwoods require no special gear, and it's pretty spectacular.
