Left the dogs home today and hiked at Big Basin Redwoods State Park among the majestic redwoods. Photos and commentary here. Here I am, admiring a biggish one.
Well, next time you're in the San Francisco Bay Area, drop me a line and I'll take you to see some! Big Basin has big ones but not the biggest; Muir Woods just north of San Francisco has some bigger ones. I think the biggest are farther up the coast and also in the Sierras near Yosemite. Oh, so you could visit Yosemite, too!
I love hiking with the redwoods. We took a trip many years ago, camped in Redwood State Park (? can't exactly remember the name) We were further north up the coast than SF though. Really beautiful. And the banana slugs were cool.
No banana slugs this weekend. Might have been too cold for them, at 37F overnight. (For those who haven't encountered them, they're about the size and color of bananas; read wikipedia's article.) You might have visited Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Also a very cool place.
Ive always wanted to see those big redwoods. Diana
