And also wouldn't run away per se, did want to know where I was. Unlike my husky way back when, forget it!

I'm convinced that some dogs learn some things more easily than others. Just like people! E.g., Tika learned weaves very quickly and always had reliable weaves. Boost--learned them fast but went in and out of periods of doing them accurately or completely. Her whole career. Dangit.

Boost's contacts, on the other hand, were pretty reliable all the time, although not always the best form (feet of the side, e.g.). Tika's contacts were always perfect in class and never reliable in competition. Nancy G couldn't get her to break her contacts in class.

So, yeah. Anyway--

Good luck with Coal!Elfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01827436807468320435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3730801.post-30634804074287164112014-10-29T14:17:29.532-07:002014-10-29T14:17:29.532-07:00I feel your struggles Ellen. I have been working o...I feel your struggles Ellen. I have been working on Coals eye contact and recall since the day he came home at 2 months old. I have spent countless hours and $$ on recallers, focus classes, etc. The recall is better at the agility field and around the house. Outside at the park it is 50/50. If Coal gets on a scent or sees something, someone, then I may as well not try as he is gone. I just turn and run the other way. He comes flying eventually. It's sad not to be able to trust him off leash. I am hoping that eventually with time and practice it will improve. Maybe some are just easier to teach a recall than others. I have not been putting enough $$ in the recallers bank lately, need to up that again. It's sounds like you had a big turn with Chip, keep up the good work!!

LaurieBLINGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04951546916528560226noreply@blogger.com
