Just the other day I was looking at...Yes, excactly!

Just the other day I was looking at a ring of what I thought were 16" jumps, only to realize a minute later that in fact they were set at 22". They just looked so puny. And to think that a few years ago, even 22" looked high to me.

Somehow I can't imagine 30" jumps ever looking puny.Muttsandaklutzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05551047401085562752noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3730801.post-4997338764638707052008-11-18T21:42:00.000-08:002008-11-18T21:42:00.000-08:00You're right about different perspectives--I still...You're right about different perspectives--I still think of 26" as being a "lowered height" because my first dog jumped 30" before they changed things. Although now that 30" looks SO high on jumps that still have it!Elfhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01827436807468320435noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3730801.post-20526293242449674172008-11-18T18:29:00.000-08:002008-11-18T18:29:00.000-08:00Hmmm, food for thought eh. I thought long and har...Hmmm, food for thought eh. I thought long and hard before trialing Walter about whether to enter him at the regular or lower height. He was my first agility dog and those 26" jumps looked mighty high to me at the time, so my concern was the wear and tear on his body over the long term (I'm a worrier by nature). Asked myself, "If I ran him at the regular height and X years later his body was showing signs of wear and tear, would I regret not having run him at the lower height?" My answer was always yes. Next question: "If I ran him at the frowned-upon-by-some lower height and X years later his body was fine and maybe he could have run at the more prestigious regular height without any damage, would I regret not having run him at the higher height?" My answer was always no. So that's how Walter ended up running in "Specials" from day one.

But, everyone comes at with different experiences that have shaped their perspective.

If only our dogs could talk to us and tell us what they want!Muttsandaklutzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05551047401085562752noreply@blogger.com
