Movies Viewed 2010-2013

SUMMARY: One of my hobbies

(Updates after original post are in blue.)

I've been meaning to do this every year for many years, but somehow don't get around to it.

Thought of it just now, so here are the lists of movies I saw in theaters from 2010-2013. FWIW.

(I have several movies noted as "?" which means that, for example, I have a receipt for popcorn but no ticket stub to match that date. I saw some films that aren't on the list, so I think those must be the ??s. On the other hand, quite a few of these I had to look up on IMDB as I couldn't remember what they were about, and even had to watch the trailers for some to remind me.)

Listed in approximately the order in which I saw them.

  1. Wow, out of all those movies the only ones I've seen are Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Inception and Hugo and all on DVD. The only movies I can recall seeing in the theater in that time are Alice in Wonderland (Jonny Depp version) which was meh and Kill All Your Darlings which was actually really good. Saw that one on a whim when some agility friends invited me along. I like movies but I'm so tired by the end of the day that my couch is more appealing than the theater, especially on weekends when I'm usually out playing all day.

    1. Ah ha! You just solved another of my missing movie titles, because I also saw the really awful Depp Alice in Wonderland. Thanks! Don't remember even hearing about Kill All Your Darlings, huh, looks interesting, and pretty recent. I wonder whether it just never made it into any of the indie theaters around here.

I like going to the theater because it's a total immersion experience for me--no dogs wandering through or having to dim the lights and close the curtains and figure out how to get the equipment to work, let alone actually getting the movie somehow. It's my total escape from everything.

  2. Wow! I keep telling husband I want to see more movies. We generally see one a year...maybe two. I can't imagine seeing all the nominees! That's fantastic!

    1. Some years I don't even want to see all the nominees. Like Django Unchained, never talked myself into it. And I wish I hadn't seen No Country for Old Men! But mostly it's a lot of fun. We go to the matinees, so they're less expensive and less crowded.

    2. How come you wish you hadn't seen No Country? I read the book...I was too scared to go to the movie.

    3. Dawn, then you should have some idea of how creepy the movie was. It was a very well done film--very, very well done. Not only was the character Anton Chigurh terrifying, but Javier Bardem played him to a T. Really, the film made me never want to be by myself ever again anywhere. I can hardly even look at Bardem now without getting creeped out all over again.Of course, it didn't help that the next film I saw him in was Skyfall. His character there was not Chigurh all over again, but creepy and dangerous as well.
