  1. Well, hello there!

What a cool shot. Love how his/her tongue matches his/her scales. How very fashion forward.

  2. Very COOL!! I hadn't seen any snakes yet this year...till two days ago when two were in the garden...still startle me when they slither away.

  3. He was VERY hard to see, and I'm sorry to say that I took off the very tip of his tail with my lawnmower before I saw him. It didn't look life-threatening at all, so I let him go on his way.

  4. Ugh, I hate snakes. His tongue is cool looking.

  5. I love snakes, lizards, the whole reptile/amphibian thing. But that's me.

He was hanging out, watching me, and eventually started flicking his tongue out (that's how they "smell", or taste, what's going on, who I am, like a dog might sniff or we might look more carefully.

It was a really fast flick, so I set my camera on fast repeat, and every time I saw the tongue come out, I held down the shutter for about 5 clicks. Did that about 6 times, for a total of 30 shots. This is the only one that showed the whole tongue clearly. Glad I got one!
